Banger Mash
2 Person - Banger Mash
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. |
2. Place the potatoes in a pot of water. Bring to a boil, lower the heat to a steady simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes. Then drain the potatoes and place them back in the empty pot |
3. Thinly slice the onion. Add the oil to a frying pan and cook the onion on a low heat until soft; 8-10 mins |
4. Add the sugar to the onion and cook on a low heat until the onion caramelises; 8-10 mins (stir occasionally). Remove and set aside once it has caramelised |
5. While onions cook, place the sausages in a baking dish with a little oil and roast the sausages for 20 minutes turning, once halfway. |
6. Add half the butter into the potatoes and mash the potatoes until fluffy |
7. Remove the sausages from the baking dish. Add the water to the sausage baking dish. |
8. In a pot or pan, melt other half of the butter over a low heat. Add the flour and cook, stirring well, for 2 minutes. |
9. Add half the sausage pan water, and stir until smooth. Add the rest of the water and the stock powder and simmer for 5 - 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened. Season to taste. |
10. Add green beans to a pot of boiling water for 4-5 minutes then strain the water |
11. Serve the sausages with caramelised onions and gravy on top of mash and beans. |
