Banger Mash

2 Person - Banger Mash

Ingredients

 

400g

Potatoes

4 Tablespoons

Method:

1.     Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

2.     Place the potatoes in a pot of water. Bring to a boil, lower the heat to a steady simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes. Then drain the potatoes and place them back in the empty pot

3.     Thinly slice the onion. Add the oil to a frying pan and cook the onion on a low heat until soft; 8-10 mins

4.     Add the sugar to the onion and cook on a low heat until the onion caramelises; 8-10 mins (stir occasionally). Remove and set aside once it has caramelised

5.     While onions cook, place the sausages in a baking dish with a little oil and roast the sausages for 20 minutes turning, once halfway.

6.     Add half the butter into the potatoes and mash the potatoes until fluffy

7.     Remove the sausages from the baking dish. Add the water to the sausage baking dish.

8.     In a pot or pan, melt other half of the butter over a low heat. Add the flour and cook, stirring well, for 2 minutes.

9.     Add half the sausage pan water, and stir until smooth. Add the rest of the water and the stock powder and simmer for 5 - 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened. Season to taste.

10. Add green beans to a pot of boiling water for 4-5 minutes then strain the water

11. Serve the sausages with caramelised onions and gravy on top of mash and beans.
